Continuing with our Summer Essentials theme, we present another staple of the season: The White Jean. Now why, you may ask, is this a Style of “Sport” feature? The answer is because they look a heck of a lot better when you are in shape! Fit bodies, however, come in different shapes and sizes and what looks good on me, might not be the right style for you. We asked our Facebook friends for their favorites and from skinny to boyfriend fit, now present your top picks for the hot white jeans of Summer 2014!

She owns 5 pairs, and of course, is wearing them today. J.CREW Stretch Toothpick $115. Fitted through the hip and legs, with a superskinny, ankle-length cut, these are another Style of Sport favorite for their lean and sexy fit. They are made of premium stretch cotton from Cone Denim®, one of the oldest denim mills in the world. Not that she has one, but financier Alexandra Lebenthal says, “They don’t make my butt look big… very important when it comes to white jeans!”

The Toggle Coat

The toggle or duffle coat is a sporty classic for both men and women. It is a perennial favorite of fashion houses and outdoor brands alike, and owes its popularity to the British Royal Navy who made the coat standard issue during World War I. The distinguishing features of the duffle coat were designed for functionality. The wooden toggles could be easily fastened and unfastened while wearing gloves in cold weather at sea and the oversized hood offered enough room to wear over a Naval cap.

The same design prevails today and this fall season, brands from Saint Laurent and Burberry to Woolrich and Merrell have brought us their interpretations of this timeless classic. Here are our six picks for the season’s best toggle coats.
